// 14 checks
The free SEO audit checks every major on-page factor Google uses to evaluate a page. Each check returns a pass, warning or fail with a plain-English explanation of what it means and how to fix it.
Checks length (50–60 chars), presence and whether the tag is missing or truncated in search results.
Checks length (120–158 chars) and presence. Missing or over-length meta descriptions hurt CTR.
Confirms exactly one H1 exists. Multiple H1s or no H1 confuses crawlers and dilutes relevance.
Checks H2/H3 hierarchy is logical and the page has meaningful sub-headings beyond just an H1.
Verifies the page is served over HTTPS. HTTP pages get a security warning in Chrome and a rankings penalty.
Checks for the viewport meta tag required for Google's mobile-first indexing.
Confirms a canonical URL is declared to prevent duplicate-content penalties across similar pages.
Checks og:title, og:description and og:image — required for correct previews on LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp.
Detects any JSON-LD schema markup. Required for rich results and AI search citations.
Samples img tags and flags missing alt attributes — accessibility and image-search ranking factor.
Checks the html lang attribute. Missing lang tags affect localisation and screen-reader accessibility.
Estimates word count. Pages under 300 words are typically too thin to rank for competitive queries.
Checks for noindex meta tags or X-Robots-Tag headers that would prevent Google from indexing the page.
Confirms a favicon is declared. Small trust and UX signal that affects return-visitor CTR.
// context
On-page SEO is entirely within your control. Unlike backlinks — which require other websites to link to you — or domain authority, which takes years to build, on-page issues are fixable today. A missing title tag, a duplicate H1 or a page flagged noindex can be corrected in minutes and the fix takes effect in the next Google crawl.
Google's ranking system looks at on-page signals first to understand what a page is about before deciding where to rank it. Pages with clear title tags, logical heading structures, proper canonical tags and structured data are easier for Google to classify — and classified pages rank. Pages without these basics have a structural ceiling on how high they can go, no matter how much other SEO work is done.
Structured data (schema markup) is increasingly important in 2026. AI search engines — Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, ChatGPT search — use structured data to identify pages worth citing. Pages with FAQ schema, Article schema or Organisation schema appear more often as AI-cited sources, driving referral traffic that doesn't depend on traditional ranking position.
